about

Set on a backdrop of warm Americana flavors, this track is an autobiographical description of the ongoing struggles of a chronic insomniac

Left to my own devices I'm a danger to myself
Thoughts running round in circles in my brain
Don't get me wrong it's yielded songs and it helps to clear the haze
But I can't quite figure out how to turn it off

Now all these thoughts make me feel so lost
I just hope that you'll still be there when I call
I hope in time, if I can clear my mind
That I can be the man you always knew I was

A pill or three turn out the lights, settle into bed for one more night
Will it be another bloody battle in my head?
I do my best to separate, time to reflect or the sleepless fate
A warrior in a fight he'll never win

And all these thoughts make me feel so lost
Won't you point me to the place I need to go?
I pray I'll find a way to clear my mind
So I can have the strength to make it through the daylight

Hours feel like months or weeks
Am I awake still or having nightmares in my sleep?
The sun can't hide away forever
I pray because lord knows my soul's at stake
I pray because I know my soul's at stake

So all these thoughts make me feel so lost
I still hope that you'll still be there when I call
I know I'll find a way to clear my mind
So I can be the man you always knew I was
